Thailand’s highest peak, the 2,565 meters (8,465 feet) Inthanon mountain has three impressive waterfalls cascading down its slopes. Starting from the bottom : Mae Klang, Wachiratan and Siriphum. On the top of peak, the views from Inthanon are beautiful. The air is quite chilly and a mist hangs around the highest peak. Along the road to the top are terraced rice fields, tremendous valleys and a few small hill tribe villagers. It’s one of the top destinations in Southeast Asia for naturalists and bird – watchers, the mist-shrouded upper slopes produce abundant orchids, lichens, mosses and epiphytes, while supporting nearly 400 birds varieties, more than any other habitat in Thailand.
The sea of fog at the top of Inthanon is so fascinated, camping overnight
and get up in the morning, sitting on high mountain-it’s a good time to see sun breaking sea of flock. Then sky changed from dark to bright, sun beam tells us new day is coming.
Sunshine Scene :
Sea of fog at the top of Inthanon is a beautiful scene. A good time to visit there is from November to Febreuary, it is a cool dry season and good for camping.
Getting There :
Inthanon mountain is located at Chom Thong district in Chiang Mai province on the North of Thailand and far from Bangkok 904 kilometers (560 miles). Getting bus to Chom Thong from Chiang Mai. From Chom Thong, there are regular small local buses to Mae Klang waterfall. From there, it has another small local bus conneting point to Inthanon mountain.
